We believe that a student’s success starts with a good night’s sleep. To foster the success of our future leaders, volunteers throughout the community come together to build beds for children in our community that does not have them. This program was started in 2011, and VIC has evolved the project to partner with Habitat for Humanity of Henderson, Housing Authority of Henderson, Audobon Kids Zone, and Henderson County Schools.

On February 28th, 2020, volunteers assembled and painted 50 beds. This was increased from the ten beds that were built in 2015. Inspirational messages were written on the multiple support slats in each of the beds. Also included in this project are “bedtime baskets”: hygiene products, stuffed toys, sheets, pillows, and blankets.

As of 2021, more than 600 volunteers have come together to assemble beds have been assembled for Henderson County children that would otherwise be sleeping on the floor or sharing a bed with a sibling and/or parent.
