Adopt-a-Family for Christmas

Thanks to the generosity of our corporate sponsors, community partners, and individual donors, the Volunteer & Information Center provides Christmas gifts to children in need throughout Henderson County.

For more than 25 years, our Santa’s Helpers program has brought joy to local families, serving an average of 450 children each year. In 2025, thanks to the incredible support of our community, 551 children received gifts to open and enjoy during their holiday celebrations.

To ensure assistance reaches as many families as possible, households that register with the Volunteer & Information Center do not receive support from other community Christmas programs. In addition, one adult from each participating family is required to complete our BankOn financial literacy program, which helps families build skills and resources for long-term financial success.

One of the things that makes Santa’s Helpers unique is that every child in the family is included, from infants to high school seniors. While many holiday assistance programs have age limits, we believe older children deserve to experience the excitement and joy of receiving a gift, too. Thanks to the kindness of our donors and volunteers, we can continue making the holidays brighter for children of all ages.

Santa's Helper Responsibilities

Become a Santa’s Helper and make a difference in a child’s Christmas. Whether you’re an individual, family, business, or community group, we’ll connect you with a local family in need so you can help create lasting holiday memories.

Shop

  • 3 to 4 fun items
  • 1 to 2 clothing items
  • limit spending to $100 per child
  • No bicycles or oversized items

Wrap

  • Wrap each gift individually
  • Label with the child’s name
  • Place gifts in black plastic bags
  • Label bags with parents name

Deliver

  • Follow delivery instructions provided
  • Deliver gifts at the designated time and location
  • Help make Christmas special for a local child

Registration for Adopt-a-Family 2025 is now CLOSED.

There is a $3 per child registration fee. Pay when you register.

One adult in each family must have completed the Bank On class within the last year. Bring a copy of the certificate of completion when you register.
